Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy refers to treatments whereby stem cells are injected into an injured area of your body that is the source of your pain. The procedure can only be called stem cell therapy if the stem cells are harvested from the patient or a close relative. We're going to explain why we do not perform stem cell therapy and why we feel that regenerative medicine is a better option.

Visit us to find out why more and more people are choosing regenerative medicine over stem cell therapy.

What is Stem Cell Therapy

What is Stem Cell Therapy?

Stem cells for traditional stem cell therapy are derived from either bone marrow or adipose (body fat). One of the drawbacks to the marrow procedure is that the harvesting of bone marrow requires a painful process in which the doctor drills into the femur or hip of the patient and extracts the marrow, then processes it for cells. This can be problematic because when stem cells are injected into your body, the first thing that they do is "home" in on the area that needs them most. If you just had a hole drilled into your body and a pipe hammered into that hole to extract marrow, the cells may very well "home" in on that area rather than the intended area of treatment.

This article that appeared in Stem Cells Journal explains why we use donated tissue from Wharton's jelly rather than perform stem cell therapy: https://stemcellsjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/sctm.16-0492

The challenge with adipose is that it's body fat. Fat is an area of the body that tends to store toxins. Extracting stem cells from adipose and injecting it into other areas of the body may subject those areas to these toxins, which can cause adverse effects on the healing abilities of the cells.

Our doctors practice regenerative cell therapy and only use stem cells derived from Wharton’s jelly. This jelly is painlessly removed from the umbilical cords of newborns during an umbilical allograft, without causing any harm to the donor. We use this source as it provides a concentration of growth factors and mesenchymal stem cells, which have exceedingly powerful regenerative properties. We feel that regenerative medicine is superior to stem cell therapy because the stem cells are young and vibrant, rather than as old as the patient.

Our injections contain a long list of effective components that play an important role in regenerating injured tissue including cytokines, peptides, growth factors, proteins, and collagens. Mesenchymal stem cells are able to adapt to your body at the site of the injections, allowing them to heal and repair the cells that occur naturally in that area. Stem cells work in hand with your own body’s natural signals that send cells to injured areas to start the healing process. Once there, the cells will release the vital components required to generate repairs.

Stem Cell Treatment

Regenerative Cellular Treatments

Our cellular treatments are exceptionally effective in relieving pain. It’s a minimally invasive procedure to inject the healing cells into areas that are damaged and causing pain. This triggers your own healing process, allowing you to heal without the need for surgery or medications. Your body will naturally begin to regenerate and heal the damaged tissue that is causing your pain. Unlike surgery, you will not require any downtime following your treatment, and you will begin to see results immediately.

Some of the most responsive conditions to regenerative cellular treatments include:

  • Knee pain
  • Torn ligaments
  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Disc problems
  • Shoulder pain
  • Torn rotator cuff or partially torn rotator cuff
  • Torn labrum or partially torn labrum
  • Elbow pain
  • Joint pain
  • Hip pain
  • Bone issues
  • Damaged or degraded cartilage
  • Neuropathy
  • Sciatica
  • Plantar fasciitis

Regenerative Cell Therapy for Pain

Regenerative cellular treatments provides long-lasting relief from both acute and chronic pain. By targeting the damaged cells, we are able to heal the area and help you regain mobility, reduce inflammation, and increase your range of motion.

Many patients avoid conventional treatments such as surgery, fearing the treatment will prove worse than the pain they are trying to relieve. Waiting can allow the pain and range of motion to worsen. However, with very little pain, your stem cell treatment will show immediate results, allowing you to return to an active, fulfilling life.
